The core of our relationship building process is based in the summer camp programs. We offer several different residential camps each summer to children between the ages of eight and twelve. Promises also offers a unique camp at the Big Spring Federal Correctional Facility once each summer where children are brought into the facility each day to visit and engage in activities with the incarcerated father. Counselors for the camps are either former campers or college students studying social work, education, child psychology or a similar field. Activities at camp are chosen for their therapeutic benefits as well as the fun factor, and camps might include horseback riding, fishing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, paintball and always swimming, music, art and nature.
