Promises for Families began in 2005 as Promise Camp, a summer camp and outreach ministry of the Episcopal Church in Northwest Texas and Rev. Roland Rose, Deacon. Promise Camp Director, Katy Hoskins, wanted to expand the camps to reach greater numbers of children and expand the program to include year round academic tutoring, mentoring and enrichment opportunities. This vision has become Promises for Families.
Over the years, the programs used at camp were integrated and refined to become our signature combination of music, art, movement and nature. The incorporation of these four essential elements address different learning modalities in children, and work together to create a powerful atmosphere of fun, healing and acceptance.
Our activities are led by professional instructors and counselors who are well qualified and have experience working with at-risk, traumatized, or grieving children. We partner with organizations with host facilities to provide programs at no charge to the campers.
